Roanoke City Council voted in favor of a $355 million budget
Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Council has recently approved a $355 million budget, which not only sustains core services but also allocates a historic level of funding for educational institutions.
During a special meeting held on Monday afternoon, council members voted in favor of the proposed budget. While tax rates will remain unchanged, a rise in real estate assessments and an increase in certain fees will result in higher payments for many residents.
Roanoke’s City Manager, Bob Cowell, expressed satisfaction with the budget, stating that it strikes an optimal balance. He emphasized the city’s commitment to education, public safety, and compensation, all of which received consistent support from the council.
In addition to budgetary matters, the council took the opportunity to honor the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs for their championship season. Furthermore, the Berglund Center operations team was recognized for their invaluable behind-the-scenes contributions.
