Angels of Assisi’s new pet center nears completion

Roanoke, Virginia – Situated in the heart of Roanoke Valley, the region’s most eminent private animal sanctuary is poised for a remarkable transformation.

After more than four years, the dedicated staff at Angels of Assisi are delighted to announce that the construction of their state-of-the-art pet center is nearing completion.

Dayna Reynolds, the esteemed Director of Community Engagement at Angels of Assisi, anticipates a seamless transition into the sophisticated new facility by the close of the year. “Having a bigger space is just going to be life-changing for so many animals and people in this community,” enthused Reynolds.

The benevolent gift of the property came from a generous donor over four years ago, but the journey towards completion has not been without its share of hurdles. “The construction process did start right before COVID. Which had us facing a few obstacles, getting supplies and things like that. So we’ve been working on it, but we are now kind of in our home stretch, and we’re just very excited about that.”

The Angels of Assisi team eagerly anticipates leaving their century-old building behind, embracing the myriad advantages of their spacious, modern facility. “Going from two exam rooms to six exam rooms, our surgical space is going to be even larger,” Reynolds said. “We’re going to have even more kennels. We’re going to have more play areas so we can have more enrichment for the animals.”

Made possible by an impressive $3 million fundraising effort, this monumental project has been sustained by the generosity of donors, sponsorships, and grants. Reynolds expressed her gratitude, stating, “As always, it wouldn’t be possible to do this without the support of our wonderful community, so we’d like to thank them. The community has really stepped forward to help us with this endeavor.”
