On March 11, Roanoke residents will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Festival in Downtown Roanoke from 10 am to 5 pm

Downtown Roanoke, Inc. has announced the schedule for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Shamrock Festival, and Celtic Celebration, which will take place on March 11 from 10 am to 5 pm in Downtown Roanoke.

The parade for St. Patrick’s Day starts at 11 a.m. There will be many community groups and Celtic bands, such as the Appalachian Highlanders Pipes and Drums, the Jamestown Pipes and Drums, the Virginia Highlands Pipes and Drums, and the Albemarle Pipe and Drums. The parade goes down Jefferson Street, turns onto Campbell Avenue, and ends at Williamson Road.

The free Shamrock Festival starts at 10 am in the plaza behind the Market Building and goes until 5 pm. Adult drinks, vendors, and live music from The Dundies, Empty Bottles, The Frequency, Juice, and DJ Joey Nicely on the Delta Dental Stage are all part of the festival.

The Corned Beef and Co. is sponsoring the Celtic Celebration, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jefferson Street between Campbell Avenue and Salem Avenue. Performers include Kinnfolk, Albemarle Pipe and Drums, Star City Ceili Band, Pirates of the Piedmont, and others.

Freedom First is coming back to help with this event. Their organization’s focus on the community goes well with our goal of having a free, family-friendly day in the middle of Downtown Roanoke. Paul Phillips, President/CEO of Freedom First Credit Union, said, “We are proud to be active members of the Roanoke, New River Valley, and Lynchburg communities.” “Our continued support of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock Festival is a great way for our friends and neighbors to celebrate the growth of our downtown.”
