On Saturday, the city of Salem will host The Craft and Vendor Fair sponsored by the Lambda Chapter of VA Alpha Delta Kappa

SALEM, Virginia – The Craft and Vendor Fair will be held in Salem on February 18.

The event is put on by the VA Alpha Delta Kappa Lambda Chapter, which is part of an international group of teacher sororities. The money from vendor registration and the bake sale helps the sorority give a $2,000 scholarship to a deserving person (usually a high school graduate) who wants to become a teacher every year.

The last fair, the seventh, was in 2020. Since then, COVID19 has made it impossible to hold fairs. The event’s organizers say they can’t wait for crafters, vendors, bakers, and other sponsors to get back to work.

At first, a few booths were set up in a small church. Now, it takes up an entire school gym and has lots of things to see and buy, like jewelry, woodworking, art, crafts, food, services, clothing, candles, pampered chef, and much more.

Stefanie Fowler, a member of Lambda and the State Chaplain for VA Alpha Delta Kappa, stopped by 7@4 to talk about the event.

When: Saturday, February 18, 2023

Where: Andrew Lewis Middle School Gymnasium, 616 College Avenue, Salem, VA

Hours: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

Free Admission, Over 50 booths, door prizes, bakes sale for snacks/sweets, cafe for lunch items.

As a college student, making an extra buck now and then was very important. I started as a part-time reporter since I was 19 yo, and I couldn’t believe it might become a long-time career. I'm happy to be part of the Virginian Tribune's team.
