Temporary traffic signals to manage alternating one lane travel during bridge replacement on Airmont Road
Round Hill, Virginia – Starting Monday, July 28, drivers along Airmont Road (Route 719) in Virginia should prepare for a new traffic pattern as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) begins a bridge replacement project. To manage the upcoming construction safely and efficiently, VDOT will install temporary traffic signals on the stretch of Airmont Road between Snickersville Turnpike (Route 734) and Paxson Road (Route 725).
The temporary signals are being put in place to control the flow of traffic through the work zone, allowing only one lane of alternating travel while the opposite lane remains closed. The bridge undergoing replacement is located about a quarter mile south of Paxson Road. This setup will remain in effect for several weeks, with the traffic signals expected to stay in place until late August.
VDOT urges all drivers and bicyclists to proceed with caution in the area. “Drivers and bicyclists are reminded to use caution when traveling in active work zones. Be alert to new traffic patterns and limit distractions.” This is especially important as one-lane traffic can lead to slower commutes and increased risks if travelers are not paying attention.
As construction progresses, VDOT encourages everyone passing through the corridor to remain patient and follow all posted signs and signal changes. The project aims to improve road safety and infrastructure stability in the area once completed.
