City of Roanoke announces elevator upgrade that will enhance service for downtown visitors
Roanoke, Virginia – The City of Roanoke is preparing to launch a full renovation of the elevator inside the Center in the Square Garage, located at 11 Campbell Ave SE. The project is set to begin on April 18 and is expected to continue for approximately 10 to 12 weeks.
City officials say the upgrade is intended “to better serve those who live, work, and visit downtown.” The elevator renovation will focus on modernizing both the appearance and functionality of the elevator, which is a vital feature of the multi-level parking garage. Officials expect the improvements to boost reliability and enhance the overall user experience.
During the renovation period, the elevator will be completely out of service. In an effort to reduce the impact on users, particularly those with disabilities, additional accessible parking spaces will be made available on the garage’s ground level for the duration of the project.
“The modernization of the elevator aims to enhance both the appearance and overall performance of this crucial component of the garage, ensuring improved reliability and a more pleasant experience for all users,” city representatives said in a public notice.
The City of Roanoke acknowledges that the project may cause temporary inconvenience but encourages the public to remain patient and informed throughout the renovation process.
