Business owners in Roanoke must submit their 2025 license renewals before the March deadline

Roanoke, Virginia – The City of Roanoke is reminding all business owners that the deadline to renew their 2025 business licenses is quickly approaching. All business license renewals must be submitted on or before Monday, March 3, 2025. Business owners are required to file their renewal applications with Ryan S. LaFountain, Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office, which is located at 215 Church Avenue SW, Room 251, Roanoke, VA 24011.

Where and How to File Business License Renewals

The Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office is open for business Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Business owners who have questions about the renewal process can contact the office by email or phone for assistance. Failure to renew on time will result in a 10% penalty, which will be applied to all late renewals.

The business license tax applies to all businesses operating in the City of Roanoke, and renewals are mandatory each year. Renewal notices are sent to business owners at the beginning of the tax year to ensure they are aware of their responsibilities.
