Debris removal efforts lead to daytime lane closures near John Douglas Wayside

Bristol, Virginia – Motorists traveling along Route 19 near John Douglas Wayside and the Washington/Russell County line should prepare for upcoming lane closures. This disruption is due to a debris removal effort that is set to begin today, December 12.

The project aims to clear debris accumulated along this stretch of the highway, ensuring safer travel for drivers. To facilitate the cleanup, traffic will be alternately directed through the northbound and southbound lanes, depending on where work is occurring at the time.

Crews are scheduled to work daily, including weekends, weather permitting. Drivers are advised to be vigilant and consider potential delays when planning travel through this area during December. The presence of workers and equipment along the road necessitates reduced speeds and heightened awareness to maintain safety for everyone involved.
