Fremac Drive reopens following storm water and sewer improvements as part of Laskin Road project

Virginia Beach, Virginia – Contractor crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) have reopened Fremac Drive between Laskin Road and Reynard Drive. This milestone marks the completion of critical storm water and sewer drain improvements, a key part of the larger Laskin Road Bridge Replacement and Widening Project.

Changes to Fremac Drive Access

While Fremac Drive has reopened, its entrance and exit to Laskin Road have been permanently adjusted to a right in/right out configuration. This change is necessary to accommodate the construction of a concrete median along Laskin Road. The new access configuration will remain in place even after the overall project is completed.

In addition, the detour previously routing traffic via Winwood Drive has been removed, simplifying navigation for local motorists.

Safety Reminders for Motorists

Drivers traveling along eastbound Laskin Road are reminded to adhere to posted traffic signs and directions, as construction activities in the area are ongoing. This is essential to maintain safety and ensure smooth traffic flow during the continued progress of the project.

About the Laskin Road Project

The Laskin Road Bridge Replacement and Widening Project is a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at improving road safety, traffic flow, and drainage systems in the region. For more details and updates, visit the VDOT project page at VDOT Laskin Road Project.

The reopening of Fremac Drive represents another step forward in this ambitious project, which continues to enhance the local transportation network.
