Temporary lane closures expected for safety improvements at Dow Hollow Road and Route 11/460 intersection

Salem, Virginia – Starting October 28, daytime work will begin to implement interim safety improvements at the intersection of Dow Hollow Road and Route 11/460. The project aims to enhance traffic flow and improve safety for drivers, with work scheduled to take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting.

Enhancing Traffic Safety and Efficiency

The upgrades will include extending the turn lanes onto and from Dow Hollow Road, making it easier and safer for vehicles to navigate the intersection. Additionally, new directional pavement markings and concrete islands will be installed to guide turn movements and enhance traffic control. These measures are expected to improve safety by reducing potential traffic conflicts at the busy intersection.

Expect Lane Closures During Construction

During the construction period, periodic lane closures will be in place throughout the area. Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and plan for potential delays during these hours. The work is expected to be completed within 7 to 10 days, ensuring minimal disruption to traffic.

These interim improvements represent a proactive effort to increase safety at the intersection while long-term plans for further enhancements are evaluated.
