Drunk mother tried to push her son out of a moving vehicle shortly before the boy started yelling, “She is trying to kill me,” after she bit his hand and stabbed him with a hand tool; arrested

Tennessee – In a distressing incident in Tennessee, a 44-year-old mother, identified as M. Castillo, has been charged with aggravated child abuse and domestic assault after allegedly attacking her own son with a screwdriver. This violent episode unfolded shortly after Castillo picked up her son from school and were both on the way to pick up her daughter from another school, leading to her arrest and serious legal repercussions.

The chaos began on a seemingly ordinary afternoon when Castillo picked up her son from school. However, the drive quickly turned dangerous. Witnesses reported seeing the boy running from his mother, screaming for his life. According to police records, the boy was running around the vehicle, yelling, “She is trying to kill me,” a cry for help that caught the attention of bystanders and ultimately led to police intervention.

An affidavit of complaint outlines a terrifying sequence of events where Castillo’s son accused her of driving recklessly and attempting to push him out of the moving vehicle. In a desperate attempt to ensure his safety, the boy called his father, who advised him to take the car keys once the vehicle stopped. This attempt to secure the keys escalated the situation further.

As the boy tried to take control of the keys, the situation took a violent turn. Castillo reportedly bit her son on his right hand and left elbow in a struggle for control. It was during this altercation that she allegedly took a screwdriver and stabbed her son in the left leg. The boy managed to escape the vehicle and sought refuge, running until a witness noticed his distress and intervened.

The witness’s account detailed a horrifying scene where Castillo chased her son around the vehicle while he continued to yell for help. Police were quickly summoned, and the boy received medical attention for his injuries, which were thankfully minor.

When officers located Castillo, they noted a strong odor of alcohol on her. She admitted to having been drinking prior to the incident, although she could not recall how much. Due to her inebriated state, officers were unable to obtain a coherent statement from her at the scene.

Following this harrowing ordeal, the victim and his sister were placed in the custody of their father, ensuring their safety away from any further harm. Castillo was arrested and is currently being held in jail with a bond set at $40,000. She awaits a court hearing to answer to the charges of felony aggravated child abuse and misdemeanor domestic assault.

This case highlights not only the severe consequences of substance abuse but also the critical importance of protecting children from domestic violence. As the legal process unfolds, many are left hoping that this incident will bring about necessary changes and interventions to prevent similar tragedies in the future. The focus now is on recovery and ensuring the safety and well-being of the children involved.
