Traffic advisory issued for I-495 northbound due to sign structure work

McLean, Virginia – Triple lane closures are scheduled to take place during overnight hours this Thursday, July 11, on northbound I-495 from just north of Old Dominion Drive (MM 44.2) to Georgetown Pike, Exit 44 (MM 43.2). The closures will begin at 9:30 p.m. and continue until 5 a.m. the following morning. Despite the lane closures, one lane will remain open, but drivers should expect full traffic stoppages of up to 30 minutes each between midnight and 5 a.m.

Impact on Traffic and Safety Measures

These closures and traffic stoppages are necessary for overhead sign structure work as part of the 495 NEXT project. The work is crucial for the ongoing infrastructure improvements in the area. In case of inclement weather or other delays, the work will be rescheduled for Friday night, June 12, and/or Saturday night, June 13.
