City of Roanoke announces holiday closures and adjusted trash collection schedule

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke City offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5, 2024, in observance of the Independence Day holiday. This closure will affect the schedule for trash, bulk, brush, and A WEEK single-stream recycling collection during that week.

Due to the holiday closures, the collection schedule for residential and commercial solid waste, including recycling, bulk, and brush, will be modified.

  • Tuesday Routes: Trash, A WEEK single-stream recycling, bulk, and brush will be collected as usual on Tuesday.
  • Wednesday Routes: Trash, A WEEK single-stream recycling, bulk, and brush will be collected as usual on Wednesday.
  • Thursday Routes: Trash, A WEEK single-stream recycling, bulk, and brush will be collected on Friday. There will be no collection services on Thursday.

For more details regarding the adjusted collection schedule, residents can contact the Solid Waste Management Customer Call Center at 540-853-2000, option 1. This temporary schedule aims to ensure that all waste and recycling services continue smoothly despite the holiday closures.
