Couple kept their teen son’s dead body for months in a fridge in their rental home and forgot the remains there after leaving the property without paying rent before the new homeowner uncovered their secret

Authorities say a 44-year-old father and a 43-year-old mother were arrested last weekend in connection with the death of their teenage son, whose body was found hidden in a fridge by the new owner of the home they were previously renting. The body of the teenager was found several months after his parents moved out of the home.

Authorities learned about the incident after receiving a report at the end of October about a corpse inside a fridge that had been left in the backyard of the house. The report was made by the new homeowner, who informed the dispatcher they found the body in the fridge while cleaning the recently acquired property. Once upon arriving at the location, deputies found the body, which was in a state of severe deco*position stuffed in an overturned fridge. They were able to identify the remains as belonging to 19-year-old Logan.

Upon further investigation, investigators learned that Logan was living in the home where his body was found with his parents, who moved out of the property without paying rent several months ago, in August. They assume Logan’s body has been “laying” in the fridge since his parents moved out, based on the state of the remains. Information regarding the exact date of his death or the cause of death was not made public.

Shortly after the shocking discovery, authorities located Logan’s parents, Michael and Karen, about 50 miles away from the home where their son’s remains were found. They were both taken for questioning and later booked in jail, where they were initially held without bond, but after making their first court appearance this week, the judge issued a $175,000 bond for each. Michael and Karen are both charged with abuse of a corpse. They may face additional charges as the investigation is ongoing.
