Roanoke Fire-EMS receives grant for enhanced emergency services

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Fire-EMS has recently been awarded a grant aimed at enhancing emergency services in Star City. This financial support originates from InFirst Federal Credit Union’s Responders initiative.

With these funds, three automated external defibrillators (AEDs) have been acquired. AEDs are crucial devices used for assisting individuals experiencing cardiac arrest.

Chief David Hoback elaborated on the broader context of this development. He revealed plans for an impending program wherein paramedics will address non-emergency situations. Their role will extend to providing medical evaluations, assisting with doctor’s appointments, and facilitating access to necessary medications.

Chief Hoback expressed gratitude, stating, “We’re very thankful for the grant. Anytime we can have the generosity of our community to help, and especially a program like this, it really doesn’t have a lot of funding for it, and we’re trying to do what we can to put this program together and make it work.”
