Roanoke City Public Schools appoints new principal of Fairview Elementary School

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke City Public Schools has announced the appointment of Kurrai Thompson as the new principal of Fairview Elementary School. Having held several positions of leadership, including serving as the Acting Principal, Thompson brings a wealth of experience to her new role.

Thompson is no stranger to Fairview Elementary School, having attended as a student and later teaching there, as well as at several other schools in the Roanoke City Public Schools system. She also served as the Assistant Principal at Lincoln Terrace Elementary School and Cadet Instructor at ROTEC.

As the new Principal of Fairview Elementary School, Thompson is committed to implementing the division’s strategic plan, The Roadmap to Student Success, which aims to provide effective, high-quality instruction that meets the needs of all students in a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Thompson’s extensive administrative leadership and teaching experience make her the ideal candidate for this important role. Roanoke City Public Schools is confident that she will be an excellent addition to the team.

Thompson officially started her role as Principal on Wednesday, April 12th, 2023. The appointment is expected to bring positive change to the school and enable students to thrive under Thompson’s leadership.
