Roanoke Parks and Recreation looking for feedback on Youth Athletics Refresh Project

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Parks and Recreation is looking for feedback for the Youth Athletics Refresh Project. This task affords the opportunity to reimagine the way youth sports is offered and encouraged within the City of Roanoke.
In the past years, Roanoke Parks and Recreation Department has offered help to community-based, volunteer recreation clubs that serve the City’s youth in traditional group sports. That support stopped in Spring 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, due to the pandemic, youth athletics participation had been consistently declining. In fact, Parks and Recreation has seen a 40% decrease since 2010. Pushing forward, the department would like to reshape how youth team sports are menaged to better serve our community.
