Man facing multiple charges in connection to Food Lion shooting incident

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Police Department arrested a man in connection to Food Lion shooting incident that took place on February 4, 2023.

According to the authorities, Kemonte Cooper, 28, from Roanoke County was arrested and charged with multiple charges including aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in a public place, shooting in an occupied building and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

Police confirmed that Cooper was interviewed as a suspect shortly after the incident. Further, the Roanoke Police Department said detectives worked closely with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and presented the case to the Roanoke City Grand Jury during the March meeting.

Cooper was served with indictments on Tuesday and taken into custody without incident. The investigation is still ongoing.
