Kermit-Vale Avenue reopens as one-way street following Glade Creek Stream Restoration construction

Roanoke, Virginia – Residents of the neighborhood around Kermit-Vale Avenue are set to experience a change in traffic flow starting Friday, July 26. After the completion of the Glade Creek Stream Restoration construction, Kermit-Vale Avenue, located between Gus Nicks Boulevard and Clyde Avenue, will reopen as a one-way street, allowing only westbound traffic.

This strategic change is part of a broader initiative to stabilize the roadside bank and ensure long-term protection of the road. By converting Kermit-Vale Avenue into a one-way street, the city aims to enhance traffic safety and align with FEMA’s regulatory floodway standards, which are crucial for managing and mitigating flood risks in the area.

Residents and visitors will now access the neighborhood via Gus Nicks Boulevard and will use Clyde Avenue to Dunkirk Avenue or King Street as routes to return to Gus Nicks Boulevard. This new traffic pattern is designed not only to improve the flow and safety of vehicle movement but also to preserve the integrity of the newly restored stream area.
