New River Valley students encouraged to apply for scholarships

BLACKSBURG, Va. – New River Valley students are invited to apply for around $100,000 in scholarships.

About 90 scholarships are offered by the Community Foundation of the NRV to students wishing to attend two-or four-year colleges, trade schools, or technical institutions.

Each scholarship is up to $4,000. Applications are currently being accepted.

Since 2002, the charity has provided local students with more than $1 million in scholarships.

“I think sometimes people don’t apply for scholarships because they wonder ‘will I get it?’ and I would just encourage folks to apply,” CFNRV’s Lindsey Gleason said. “We’re looking for a variety of students from all kinds of backgrounds and we’re just excited to be able to offer money to help people with schooling.”

Applications will be accepted through the end of January.
