Very first Culture Fair held at Roanoke Catholic School

ROANOKE, Va. – Students at Roanoke Catholic School experienced what it’s like to travel the globe without ever leaving the school.

On Wednesday, the very first Culture Fair ever held its event.

A group of students came up with the idea because they wanted to show how different their classmates’ cultures were.

Countries represented included Vietnam, Sweden, Nigeria, and others.

Students had high hopes that their peers would learn to appreciate a variety of cultures.

“That they recognize that there’s a bunch of different cultures represented within the school and that they learn today from each one,” said Malissa Louis, one of the student organizers.

The students have high hopes that this fair will become an annual event that will continue to be held in the future.

As a college student, making an extra buck now and then was very important. I started as a part-time reporter since I was 19 yo, and I couldn’t believe it might become a long-time career. I'm happy to be part of the Virginian Tribune's team.
