Lynchburg Police looking into a malicious wounding incident

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Lynchburg Police Department has opened an investigation into an incident that left one person injured.

According to the police, the department responded to a report of shots fired in the 900 block of Pierce Street at around 10:35 p.m. on Saturday night.

During the time that police were responding to that home, they received a second report about a man who had been shot and was found in the 1300 block of Buchannan Street.

As soon as the police arrived on Buchannan Street, they discovered a man who had been wounded in the leg in addition to a car that had been hit by gunfire.

On Pierce Street, authorities also discovered a residence that had been struck by gunfire, according to the police.

There were no other injuries reported.

The victim was transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. He was treated and then discharged.

At this time, there have been no people taken into custody.
