TAP offers mentoring programs for youngsters designed to teach life skills

ROANOKE, Va. – Total Action for Progress (TAP) has a number of mentorship programs for young people, especially children and young adults, that are designed to get them to think about and look for opportunities.

TAP is searching for young people who are willing to advocate for the program. With the assistance of “Coaching Boys Into Men and Athletes as Leaders,” you can educate young athletes how to have good relationships with other people and that violence is never a sign of strength. To sign up, please get in touch with Djuan Hankins at [email protected] or call (543) 385-1445. Also, additional information may be found at http://tapintohope.org/event/cbim-aal/.

The schools in Roanoke City are now implementing a mentorship program for students in elementary school and middle school. The sessions will focus on self-love, conflict resolution, goal setting, job discovery, and creating an entrepreneurial attitude. Adults who have received training to act as mentors lead the mentoring groups. The students will participate in activities that build teamwork, as well as go on field trips and do other things. For further details, please contact Nicole Ross at 540-354.2212 or [email protected].

As a college student, making an extra buck now and then was very important. I started as a part-time reporter since I was 19 yo, and I couldn’t believe it might become a long-time career. I'm happy to be part of the Virginian Tribune's team.
