National Distracted Driving Coalition urges drivers to use cellphone safety feature

ROANOKE, Va. – You may use a function on your phone if you have problems ignoring a call or a text message while you are driving. It might be quite helpful.

National Don’t Disturb While Driving Day will take place on October 20.

In addition, the National Distracted Driving Coalition is encouraging drivers to use the “Do Not Disturb” function on their mobile devices while they are behind the wheel.

Rich Jacobs is an employee of the Virginia chapter of the Drive Smart organization.

“You are aware that it is possible for someone to listen to your voicemail. There will still be the possibility for someone to send a text message. They will get a message from you, which will often be a reply stating that you are driving. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. On the other hand, setting it up is a breeze. “You just have to make the decision to carry it through,” Jacobs said on Thursday afternoon.

Jacobs said that it is against the law to drive while holding a telephone in the state of Virginia.
