ROANOKE, Va. – A man accused of murder in connection with a shooting in the city’s northwest was found guilty on murder charges on Wednesday in Roanoke Circuit Court.
Taniko Belt, also from Roanoke, was shot and killed by Roanoke resident Todd Manns, who was found guilty by a jury of first-degree murder and the use of a handgun in the commission of a felony for the crime. According to the police, the two were familiar with one another.
Manns might spend the rest of his life behind bars. There is currently no scheduled date for the delivery of the sentence.
The plea for help came in late that night on May 2nd, 2021, around the junction of Panorama Avenue NW and Westside Boulevard NW. It was reported that bullets had been fired in the area. While the cops were on their way to the scene, they received word that there had been a collision on Peters Creek Road NW. When officers arrived on the scene to discover an automobile accident in the median, they discovered Belt suffering from several gunshot wounds inside the vehicle.
According to the findings of the investigation conducted by the police, the incident started on Panorama Drive in the 3800 block, and the shooting was tied to the wreck.
