Franklin County YMCA will host adaptive kayaking event this Saturday

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – This coming weekend, in Franklin County, there will be a unique event to which everybody and everyone is welcome.

The Franklin County YMCA County will host an adapted kayaking event for people of all ages and abilities. Participants will be able to safely enjoy kayaking in a contained area with the assistance of volunteers who will be present. According to the organizers of the event, an organization known as “Wheel Love,” it is remarkable because it gives those who face particular difficulties the opportunity to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience and recognize their talents.

“Some people see videos of other people floating down the river or playing in the lake and they are like, ‘you know what, I would like to try that.’ But all of a sudden you’re like, ‘but I don’t have a kayak and I’ve never done it before’, begins Scot Mills with Wheel Love. “There are so many different things you’re not sure of, so maybe here, they would have the confidence to be able to get in and out of the pool with help and just paddle around in the pool for a little bit.”

This event will take place this coming Saturday, starting at 9 a.m. and going until 2 p.m.
