VDOF says the risk of wildfires remains at a high level

Virginia – The Virginia Department of Forestry is warning people that the risk of wildfires is still very high, even after Thursday’s rain, the department says.
With 18 wildfires burning across more than 2000 acres this week, the VDOF is working around the clock to put them out.
The biggest fire, which has burned 1300 acres in Lee County in Southwest Virginia, is now 80 percent contained.
Another fire in Lee County, the Paradise Cove Fire, burned 270 acres but has now been brought under control completely.
