Health experts say Covid-19 and influenza could overburden health employees

Danville, Virginia – The flu season has arrived, and a new warning of a possible “twindemic” of COVID-19 and influenza has been issued.
According to researchers, there might be up to 20% more flu cases this year than in a typical year.
As September was the month with most Covid-19 fatalities since February, local experts are concerned hospital workers could be overburdened.
“That could definitely overburden a very strained health system, not just in Danville, but everywhere,” said Dr. Scott Spillman, Danville-Pittsylvania VDH Director.
Local health officials are trying to help people in obtaining both vaccinations.
On Friday, the Pittsylvania-Danville Health District of the Virginia Department of Health hosted a COVID-19 and influenza vaccine clinic at the Danville Community Market.
Another clinic is planned for later this month, according to local health officials.
