Powerball jackpot grown to an estimated $800 million

The already-huge Powerball jackpot has grown to an estimated $800 million, making it the second-biggest in the game’s history.

There were no winning tickets sold for Wednesday night’s $700 million Powerball jackpot, the highest of the year. According to Powerball officials, the top prize for Saturday night’s drawing will be at least $800 million. The number may increase as more and more tickets are purchased.

Wednesday was the 36th consecutive day without a Powerball jackpot winner.

Powerball jackpot winners have the choice of receiving their reward in a single sum, which, if won on Saturday, would equal an estimated $383.7 million in cash value, or as an annuity. This option distributes the whole prize sum across about thirty years. All of this would be before taxation.

The winning numbers for Wednesday night were 19, 36, 37, 46, 56, and a Powerball of 24.
