Investigation underway following the fatal shooting of a teenager in Roanoke over the weekend

Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke police department is actively seeking information related to a tragic incident that claimed the life of a teenager on Sunday evening.

On June 25, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m., local law enforcement was alerted to a situation involving an individual suffering from gunshot wounds. The event took place within the vicinity of the 700 block of 18th Street NW. Upon arrival at the scene, police officers discovered a critically wounded teenage boy inside a residence.

According to statements from the Roanoke police, emergency medical services from Roanoke Fire-EMS were on the scene promptly, but despite their best efforts, the teenager was pronounced deceased on site.

Significant property damage to the exterior of the residence consistent with a shooting incident was discovered during the initial police investigation. Law enforcement officials are currently undertaking a meticulous investigation to ascertain the precise circumstances surrounding this unfortunate death. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
