Roanoke City Public Schools unveil new logo and website

Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Public Schools are poised to present a new logo and an updated website later this week, in a bid to enhance their identity and improve digital interaction.

On Monday morning, Superintendent Verletta White, alongside the Chief Communications and Community Engagement Officer, Kelly Sandridge, offered a first glimpse at these novel designs.

Central to the new logo is a star, symbolizing the interconnectedness of teachers and students in the journey of learning.

Superintendent White articulated her interpretation of the logo, stating, “Some might look at that logo and might see children reading books, and we’re hoping that’s the case as well. Others might look at it and see employees working together, or parents working with school-based teams and they’re working around the table. That’s what we do every day and that’s what we’re proud of.” The variety of interpretations attached to the logo reflect the diversity and inclusive nature of the education process, encapsulating the essence of collaborative work in the educational sphere.

The website, meanwhile, has undergone a significant overhaul, featuring additional tools to enhance user-friendliness and accessibility. A translation feature is being introduced, broadening the reach to non-English speakers. Furthermore, measures have been taken to improve accessibility for individuals with disabilities, underlining the school district’s commitment to inclusivity.

In terms of timeline, the division-wide and individual school-based websites are set to go live on Wednesday, coinciding with the day the school system is scheduled to commence utilization of the new logo. This dual rollout underscores the school system’s commitment to consistent branding and seamless integration between their physical and digital presence.
