Drive-thru registration event held over the weekend in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. – Now that we are less than two months away from the midterm elections, it is vital to make sure that individuals are registered to vote on November 8th.

On Saturday, a drive-thru event was held by the Roanoke section of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

They were accompanied by others who were a part of the Roanoke NAACP Youth Council.

Olivia Davoll, who holds the position of Vice President of the organization, emphasized the need to register young adults.

“Because we’re like the next incoming…we’re supposed to be making this world a better place because we’re the next generation and we’re in charge basically,” said Davoll.

In addition to selling different types of food, the group also sold baked goods in an effort to collect money for their organization. According to Davoll, the donations made it possible for her to attend an event in New Jersey the previous year.

The date for the midterm elections is November 8th. There are eleven people running for four open positions on the Roanoke City Council.
