Mother had her 3-year-old daughter in the car when her boyfriend rushed to her, yelling, “You cheated on me,” before slashing her face several times with a weapon, killing her

New Jersey – A shocking and brutal incident in New Jersey has led to the indictment of a 25-year-old man, identified as A. Williams, after he fatally attacked his 29-year-old girlfriend, identified as B. Greenwood, with a weapon. The assault occurred on May 23 just outside of Greenwood’s home, leaving the community in horror and a family shattered.

On the morning of the attack, Williams reportedly called the police at 9:22 a.m., confessing over the phone, “I just killed my girl,” and indicating his intent to surrender peacefully. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find a deeply disturbing sight; Greenwood was discovered severely injured between two parked cars, with injuries to her face and arm. The machete used in the attack was recovered at the scene, along with Greenwood’s personal belongings, such as her cellphone and backpack, which were stained with blood.

The attack did not only cause physical injuries but unfolded in front of Greenwood’s 3-year-old daughter, who was inside her car at the scene. This fact alone added to the heinous nature of the crime, prompting charges of endangering the welfare of a child alongside first-degree murder. During the attack, a witness from the apartment complex heard Williams accusing Greenwood of infidelity in a fit of rage, screaming, “You cheated on me, you b—-. You cheated on me.” After approaching Greenwod, Williams slashed her face several times with a machete and almost completely cut her arm, just above the wrist, as per reports.

Despite being rushed to the hospital and undergoing an 18-hour operation to save her life, Greenwood succumbed to her injuries a week later, on May 30. Her family, devastated, expressed their grief on a GoFundMe page, highlighting her bravery and the profound loss of a young mother whose life was viciously taken. They noted that the assault was witnessed by one of her young children, which magnified the traumatic impact of the incident. Her 3-year-old daughter, and 8-year-old son are now left to grapple with the violent loss of their mother

Williams is being held in the county’s correctional institution without bail. The indictment brought against Williams includes charges of first-degree murder and aggravated endangering of a child, reflecting the severity of his actions. Additionally, Williams faces charges related to the unlawful possession and use of a weapon, specifically the machete used to commit the murder.

As the case moves forward, the community and Greenwood’s family await justice, hoping for a resolution that acknowledges the gravity of the crime and its lasting impact on two young children who must now grow up without their mother. The tragedy has sparked conversations about domestic violence and the urgent need for protective measures for at-risk individuals.
