Upcoming special events in Roanoke will impact traffic
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke has special events coming up that will have parking and street restrictions.
On the 30th and 1st of July, Friday and Saturday respectively, “Straight Street Youth Night” is scheduled to take place. This event will be held on Luck Street, between 3rd and 4th, from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
The following day, Saturday the 1st of July, the “King George Block Party” is set to occur. The venue for this gathering is on King George Street, between 4th and 5th, from 1:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
On Sunday, the 2nd of July, the “Cardinal Block Party” will commence at 9:00 am and wrap up at 11:45 pm. This event will take place on Cardinal Street, between Jefferson and Richilieu.
Furthermore, also on Sunday, the 2nd of July, the “Freedom Fest and Fireworks” event is programmed. This will occur at Rivers Edge and Wiley and Reserve from 11:00 am to 11:45 pm.
On Tuesday, the 4th of July, the “Greenwood Block Party” is due to take place. This will happen on Greenwood Street, between Shirley and Sherwood, from 11:00 am to 10:15 pm.
Simultaneously, on the same day, Tuesday, the 4th of July, the “Laburnum Block Party” is also planned. The event will unfold on Laburnum Street, between York and Carlton, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The “Straight Street Youth Night” event will make a return on Friday and Saturday, the 7th and 8th of July respectively, from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Luck Street, between 3rd and 4th.
Lastly, on Friday the 7th of July, “First Fridays” is set to occur. This gathering will be held on Franklin Street, between Williamson and Jefferson, from 1:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Roanoke’s local government has strategically partnered with Waze, the popular GPS navigation software app, to effectively inform residents about the anticipated traffic impacts of these events, as well as any capital improvement projects and planned street closures. The intention is to assist citizens in smoothly navigating around the city during these times.
