Mother “traded” her 2-year-old daughter more than 2 years ago with a man supplying her with drugs, then claimed she was staying with her father; arrested

Oklahoma – In a shocking case in Oklahoma, a 39-year-old mother, identified as A. Rowland, has been arrested and charged with abandoning her daughter, shedding light on a troubling incident from over two years ago where she traded her young child for drugs.

Rowland found herself in police custody last week, facing serious accusations related to the disappearance of her daughter, who was just two years old at the time she went missing in 2022. The charge laid against her is child abandonment, according to reports.

The ordeal began when the Department of Human Services attempted to take custody of the toddler in April 2023 but discovered the child was nowhere to be found. Their investigation led them to Rowland’s residence. Initially, Rowland misled agents by claiming that her daughter was with her father in Georgia. However, it soon became apparent that this was not the case.

Further investigation and a more intensive interview with police revealed a startling confession. Rowland admitted that in April 2022, she handed her daughter over to a man named Carlos, whom she believed could potentially be the girl’s biological father. Rowland disclosed that at the time of the exchange, Carlos was supplying her with methamphetamine. She confessed to having lost all contact with her daughter since that transaction and expressed uncertainty about Carlos’s identity, including his plans to possibly travel to another country without the necessary identification for the child.

As of now, the little girl would be around five years old, but her whereabouts remain a mystery, with authorities uncertain if she is still in the country or alive. The police department has stressed the ongoing nature of this investigation, stating, “This is a very active case that we are working diligently on. All leads are being investigated in relation to the location of the child.”

Police are urging anyone with information regarding the case to come forward and contact them. The Department of Human Services has labeled the situation as “heartbreaking and unimaginable” but has refrained from commenting further due to the sensitivity and specifics of the ongoing case.

Currently, Rowland is being held at a detention center with bail set at $3,000. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with neighbors and local residents grappling with the grim realities of child endangerment linked to drug abuse and the extreme decisions made under such influences. The case continues to unfold as authorities piece together the events that led to the tragic disappearance of a young child, hoping to find answers and, ultimately, to ensure the safety and well-being of the missing girl.
