Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office launches child seat safety campaign

Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office has initiated a campaign emphasizing child passenger seat safety.

To enhance this initiative, a character named Ivy was conceptualized by a Roanoke City deputy. This has resulted in signs being erected in school vicinities and a presence established online.

The Public Information Officer of the Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office, Tameka Paige, articulated that the campaign’s inception was prompted by local educational administrators identifying a number of children arriving or departing school without appropriate car safety measures.

“Anything can happen it only takes a second to have to slam on breaks or unfortunately an accident and then after that point it’s just it’s too late,” stated Paige.

The overarching ambition is that caregivers will ensure children utilize their seat belts every time they enter a vehicle.
