3-month pregnant woman grabbed a knife as her boyfriend was strangling her during an argument before she fatally stabbed him in the chest; charged

North Carolina – In a shocking incident in North Carolina, a 20-year-old man, identified as S. Bell-Brown, was fatally stabbed in the chest in his mother’s kitchen during a violent altercation with his 3-months pregnant girlfriend, identified as M. Jones. The victim succumbed to his injuries after being attacked early Monday morning, marking a tragic escalation in a relationship previously marred by domestic violence.

The dispute that led to Bell-Brown’s death occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on March 24, at Bell-Brown’s home. Authorities were summoned to the scene where they discovered Bell-Brown with critical stab wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Jones, also 20, has been identified as the assailant. According to police reports, the argument escalated when Jones, reportedly grappling with the high emotions of the confrontation, grabbed a knife and stabbed Bell-Brown multiple times. During the altercation, it was reported that Bell-Brown attempted to strangle Jones, prompting her to use the knife. Jones has been charged with murder and is currently held without bond at the county jail, awaiting her next court appearance on April 11.

Bell-Brown’s mother witnessed the horrifying events unfold in her kitchen. She described the devastating moment she found her son critically injured and bleeding profusely. “I turned the light on, and he was holding his chest, and I looked, and his shirt just started filling with blood,” she recounted. Her attempts to comfort her dying son were heartbreakingly futile. “He said, ‘Ma! Please don’t let this happen to me. Mommy, help me,'” she recalled. Despite her reassurances that he would be okay, the victim’s last words to his mother were, “I’m OK,” before he tragically passed away.

This was not the first instance of violence between Jones and Bell-Brown. Jones was previously charged in December 2024 with simple assault and misdemeanor domestic violence after an earlier dispute that left Bell-Brown with visible scratches. The ongoing tensions in their relationship had escalated to a fatal conclusion, leaving a family mourning the loss of a young life and a community in shock. The incident raises critical questions about the adequacy of measures in place to prevent domestic violence and the support systems available to those caught in its grip. As the case progresses, it underscores the tragic reality that domestic disputes can sometimes lead to irreversible outcomes.

The local community and law enforcement have expressed deep sorrow and concern over the incident. As the legal proceedings continue, the focus is also on the unborn child of Jones and Bell-Brown, with community members and family anxious about the future of the youngest victim of this tragedy. The case continues to develop as investigations provide more details into the night of the incident, with law enforcement and the community seeking justice for a life cut tragically short.
