10-year-old girl woke up to her grandmother’s screams for help after her father crawled into the home and stabbed the woman because he couldn’t find anything worth stealing
Florida – In a horrific incident that unfolded in Florida, a man has been accused of fatally stabbing his own mother after breaking into her home. The incident has left the community in shock and highlighted a severe breach of familial trust.
The 37-year-old man, identified as J. Aylor, faces grave charges, including armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery and murder in the first degree while engaged in burglary, following the violent attack on his 64-year-old mother, identified as Julie. The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. on Monday when John allegedly crawled into the home through a dog door, a method he had reportedly used multiple times before to steal from her.
The 64-year-old woman had been the primary caregiver for her granddaughter, Aylor’s daughter, who has been under her care for the majority of her life due to Aylor’s recurrent legal troubles and incarcerations. Sheriff C. Chronister detailed the suspect’s past of breaking into his mother’s home to steal valuables. On the night of the murder, frustrated by the lack of valuable items to steal, Aylor reportedly escalated the situation by confronting and ultimately attacking his mother with a knife.
During the confrontation, the man stabbed his mother once in the chest. Both Aylor’s 10-year-old daughter and Julie’s other 16-year-old granddaughter were present in the house when the distressing scene occurred. Awoken by their grandmother’s desperate cries for help, the young girls found themselves in a terrifying situation. The woman, severely injured, managed to crawl to the room where her granddaughters were staying, pleading for her life and calling out to her son for help, even as she lay dying.
The teenager quickly dialed 911, but despite the swift response from emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect fled the home before law enforcement arrived but was apprehended the following day thanks to a tip from a concerned citizen. Sheriff Chronister highlighted Aylor’s long history of criminal behavior and drug addiction, noting his numerous arrests since 2003. The community and the authorities have expressed deep sympathy for the family, particularly the children who witnessed such a traumatic event.
