Roanoke residents invited to grand opening of new 15,000-square-foot Wasena Skatepark and Pump Track
Roanoke, Virginia – The city of Roanoke prepares to officially open a brand-new recreational feature in Wasena Park. Residents are invited to join the ribbon cutting for the new skatepark and pump track on January 30, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, located at 1001 Winchester Avenue SW in the heart of Roanoke’s Wasena neighborhood.
The brand-new facility boasts a 15,000-square-foot concrete skatepark complete with modern and challenging features. Skaters can enjoy a wide variety of structures including a half pipe, bowl, handrails, gaps, and more. Designed to cater to skaters of all skill levels, the park offers a dynamic space for youth and adults alike to build skills and community.
Adjacent to the skatepark is a newly built asphalt pump track, offering even more recreational options for cyclists and scooter riders. The track’s flowing design allows users to build momentum through a series of rolling hills and banked turns, creating a smooth and engaging experience for riders of all kinds.
Officials are encouraging community members to come out and celebrate the much-anticipated project. The event will also feature complimentary refreshments, generously provided by local Wasena neighborhood businesses Bloom and RND, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This project reflects Roanoke’s ongoing investment in recreational spaces that promote wellness, activity, and positive youth engagement. With the addition of the new skatepark and pump track, Wasena Park continues to grow as a vibrant hub for outdoor fun and community connection.
