16-year-old girl died after a woman targeting someone else at the residence she was spending the night at drove past the home and shot her to death; woman charged

Missouri – In a shocking incident in Missouri, a 21-year-old woman, identified as B. Lewis, is now facing a series of serious charges after a 16-year-old girl, identified as T. Sibley, was shot and killed during what was supposed to be an ordinary sleepover. Lewis has been charged with second-degree felony murder, alongside several counts of accessory to armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon, following the tragic death of Sibley. The teenager, a local high school student just days away from beginning her junior year, was struck by gunfire while doing something as simple and innocent as “fixing her friend’s hair” at a vanity near the front door.

The fatal shooting unfolded on August 9 at a residence. According to the prosecutor’s office, Lewis drove by the home and opened fire—allegedly not aiming at Sibley, but rather someone else who was also inside the house that night. That individual, police say, had a falling out with Lewis in the months prior, involving a series of personal disputes, including an incident where the person was reportedly “jumped” at a gas station and accused of theft.

In the probable cause affidavit, Detective D. Adair described the evidence gathered at the scene. He noted that “the general spacing of the casings seemed to indicate the person(s) firing the shots were in motion southbound … as they were firing.” Both the house and a vehicle parked in the driveway were riddled with bullet holes. Blood trailed from the living room to the bathroom, where Sibley collapsed after being shot in the throat. Witness accounts matched the crime scene’s tragic reality. Several individuals in the home recalled an otherwise quiet evening—two girls doing hair at a vanity, one person resting in a bedroom, and two adult men playing video games in the living room. Even a toddler was present. Then the gunfire shattered the calm. Bullets tore through the front wall and door. Sibley, struck as she styled her friend’s hair, stumbled to the bathroom before collapsing.

Investigators quickly zeroed in on Lewis as the prime suspect. Surveillance footage captured her vehicle circling the block and approaching the house shortly before and after the shooting. She was also reportedly linked to another shooting just 15 minutes earlier at a nearby apartment complex. The drive time between the two incidents, noted detectives, was consistent with her car being involved in both. Witnesses further confirmed Lewis’ identity, including the individual believed to be the intended target. Social media posts and previous online interactions also tied her to the person she allegedly blamed for various grievances, including a stolen item and the earlier altercation at the gas station. Prosecutors stated that the relationship between Lewis and her former acquaintance had “soured from there until they stopped speaking at all.”

As of the latest update, Lewis remains behind bars at the county detention center. Her bond is set at $400,000. Prosecutors made it clear they intend to hold her accountable not only for pulling the trigger but for recklessly endangering everyone inside the house that night. A sleeping toddler, young teens preparing for school, and adults just passing time—none were spared from the consequences of a long-held grudge turned violent. No trial date has been announced, and Lewis has not yet entered a plea. The community now mourns a young life stolen in a moment of senseless violence—one that has shaken a neighborhood and left a family shattered.
