Railroad maintenance prompts temporary closure of eastbound Route 10 between Enon Church Road and River Haven Boulevard

Chesterfield, Virginia – Drivers in Chesterfield County should plan ahead as CSX Transportation will temporarily close a section of eastbound Route 10 to complete essential railroad crossing repairs. The closure is scheduled to begin Monday, June 2, and will continue through Friday, June 6, weather permitting. Work will take place each day between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The affected portion of Route 10 lies between North Enon Church Road (Route 746) and River Haven Boulevard. During the closure, CSX crews will perform critical maintenance to the railroad crossing to improve safety and ensure smoother travel for motorists and freight trains alike.

To help ease traffic congestion and guide commuters, a detour route will be clearly posted. Eastbound drivers will be rerouted north on Interstate 295, then east on Route 618 (Meadowville Road), south on Route 7767 (Meadowville Technology Parkway), and back to Route 10 via Route 746 (North Enon Church Road).

Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time, use caution near work zones, and observe all traffic signage. For those seeking up-to-date travel information, road conditions, or alternate route suggestions, 511Virginia offers real-time updates online at 511.vdot.virginia.gov, through its mobile app, or by dialing 511 from any phone within the state.

The temporary roadwork may cause inconvenience, but it is necessary for long-term roadway and railway safety improvements.
