Roanoke Fire EMS schedules live training event to improve hands on firefighting skills

Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke Fire-EMS has announced plans to hold a live fire training exercise on Thursday, April 17, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The exercise will take place on Forest Hill Avenue Northeast in Roanoke and will offer firefighters a unique opportunity to train in a real residential setting, unlike standard simulations.

This hands-on training will allow more than 30 Fire and EMS personnel to enhance their skills in a controlled environment. The session is designed to provide a realistic firefighting experience while ensuring the safety of all involved and nearby residents.

Roanoke Fire-EMS has emphasized that the event will be closely supervised. “Signs will be posted,” officials noted, and the public is encouraged not to be alarmed by the increased emergency vehicle presence in the area. This type of training plays a crucial role in preparing first responders to react swiftly and effectively during real emergencies.

Residents in the vicinity of Forest Hill Avenue Northeast should expect brief interruptions and are asked to exercise caution while moving through the area during the exercise timeframe. The department appreciates the community’s support and cooperation as it works to strengthen its emergency response capabilities.
