High school and middle school students from Roanoke County impress audiences with stunning all-district choir performance at Virginia Tech
Roanoke, Virginia – Roanoke County Public Schools is celebrating the outstanding achievements of its student-musicians who recently participated in the highly regarded 2025 All-District Choir event at Virginia Tech. This annual gathering brought together the most talented choir students from Roanoke, Lynchburg, Danville, the Radford/New River Valley area, and other surrounding communities, creating an unforgettable musical experience.
A Rigorous Audition Process
Selection for the All-District Choir was no easy feat. Students competed in a challenging audition process that tested their vocal abilities and musical skills. Each student performed a prepared musical art song and completed a sight-reading exercise. Only the highest-scoring students were chosen to participate, demonstrating their dedication, vocal range, and musical expertise.
A Weekend of Music and Inspiration
The event officially began on Friday, February 7, when 95 Roanoke County high school students arrived at Virginia Tech for a full afternoon of rehearsals. Under the guidance of two distinguished guest clinicians, the students worked on perfecting their technique and harmonization. That evening, they had the privilege of witnessing a performance by the Virginia Tech choirs, an experience that provided additional inspiration and motivation.
On Saturday, February 8, 56 middle school students from Roanoke County joined their high school peers for another full day of intense rehearsals. With the guidance of expert instructors, the young vocalists fine-tuned their performances, mastering complex pieces in preparation for the grand concert that evening.
A Stunning Performance at Moss Arts Center
The weekend’s efforts culminated in a spectacular performance at Virginia Tech’s renowned Moss Arts Center. Students took the stage in a world-class setting, delivering breathtaking renditions that highlighted their hard work and passion for choral music. Both the middle and high school choirs impressed audiences with their professionalism and artistry, proving once again the strength of Roanoke County’s choral programs.
