Pregnant woman was with her friends when her ex-boyfriend showed up and punched her in the face before stabbing her repeatedly with a kitchen knife in a series of violent attacks over the summer

Tennessee – In a harrowing sequence of events in Tennessee, a 35-year-old man, identified as D. Wilkins, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after stabbing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, whose identity remains undisclosed, ten times. This latest incident marks the third assault against the woman this summer, raising severe concerns about repeat offenses and domestic violence.

Police officers responded to the urgent call on the evening of September 20, 2024, at approximately 8:40 p.m. They arrived at a parking lot to find a woman severely wounded from multiple stab wounds. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, where she was able to give a detailed account of the harrowing experience to detectives.

According to the victim, her encounter with Wilkins began while she was walking with friends. She stated that Wilkins then showed up, approached her, and struck her in the face. He then pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed her repeatedly. Throughout this brutal assault, he ominously told her, “I told you I was going to get you,” signaling a premeditated intention.

This incident is not isolated. Wilkins had previously assaulted the victim twice since July. The first occurred on July 24, where he reportedly punched her multiple times and stole her purse. The second assault on August 5 was even more severe; Wilkins allegedly held the victim and her four children captive in their apartment, threatening further violence if she tried to leave.

Following the August incident, police arrested Wilkins on charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence, and four counts of false imprisonment. When the victim informed detectives about the July assault, additional charges of robbery and domestic violence were added. Wilkins was released after posting a $60,000 bond. However, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest on August 20 when he failed to appear for a court hearing.

Following the latest attack in September, Wilkins was arrested and taken into custody. He is currently held in jail with a bond set at $2 million. His charges include attempted first-degree murder and domestic assault. Wilkins’ criminal record includes prior convictions for aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, aggravated robbery, and burglary. He is also currently on probation, as per records from the Department of Corrections.

Authorities expressed deep concern over the pattern of behavior exhibited by Wilkins, particularly the impact on the victim, who is pregnant with his child. Wilkins’ actions have not only caused immediate harm but have also instilled lasting fear and trauma in the victim and her children. The victim is currently recovering from her injuries, and authorities are providing support to her and her children. The case highlights the ongoing issue of domestic violence and the importance of holding repeat offenders accountable.

This disturbing series of events underscores the critical need for intervention in cases of domestic abuse. Law enforcement officials encourage anyone experiencing similar situations to reach out for help immediately. As the case progresses, the focus remains on securing justice for the victim and ensuring such violent acts are not repeated.
