Mother had her child in the home when she shot her lover five times before using a chainsaw to cut his body into pieces she then placed in more than 10 trash bags; arrested

Alabama – In a shocking crime in Alabama, a 26-year-old woman, identified as J. Lopez, has been accused of fatally shooting her lover, identified as B. Guzman, and then cutting his body with a chainsaw before attempting to flee the country.

The series of tragic events unfolded when Guzman’s boss reported him missing to the sheriff’s office on August 27, prompting a welfare check at his residence. Deputies investigating Guzman’s disappearance were met with a disturbing scene. A foul odor led them to Guzman’s vehicle, which contained 10 to 15 trash bags. The discovered bags held the remains of Guzman.

Further examination of the car revealed a .22-caliber revolver with five of its six cartridges fired. The autopsy report later confirmed that two bullets were found in Guzman’s body, corroborating the use of the firearm found at the scene. The car also contained multiple electric chainsaws purchased from a retail company, one of which still bore traces of blood on its blades. Other incriminating items included cleaning supplies, a diaper bag, and a box of baby formula, also stained with blood.

Lopez was arrested and charged with murder, facing life imprisonment if convicted. She is currently being held in jail without bond. During a phone call from jail, Lopez was reportedly overheard expressing regret about not fleeing earlier. Investigators believe that Lopez planned to escape to Mexico or Guatemala, where she has family ties, with her child. They found her passport and the child’s birth certificate prepared for their departure.

Lopez has claimed that she killed Guzman in self-defense, a claim she made during a court appearance where she requested to be released on bond pending trial. However, her request was denied. Guzman’s last known sighting was around 8 p.m. on August 24. The investigation showed Lopez shot Guzman five times and that the child was present at the home during the murder. Surveillance and receipts showed that Lopez had bought four chainsaws from the store shortly before the murder and returned one later.

The brutal nature of the crime has left the community and Guzman’s acquaintances in shock. Guzman’s ex-wife, who remained friends with him post-divorce, expressed her horror and disbelief at the circumstances of his death. “To hear all of that what she did to him like that — it sickens me to my stomach. He didn’t deserve any of that. I mean, she already shot him five times. What else did she plan on doing here?”

As the case progresses, Lopez is scheduled for another court hearing on September 11, where more details are expected to emerge about this heinous crime. The local and broader community continues to grapple with the brutality of the incident, raising questions about the circumstances leading up to the tragedy and the adequacy of measures to protect individuals from domestic violence.
