Discover after-school opportunities with Roanoke Parks & Recreation

Roanoke, Virginia – The Parks & Recreation department cordially invites families to attend a special event, “PLAY Roanoke,” focused on introducing back-to-school opportunities. This Play Palooza aims to inform students about the diverse after-school programs available to them.

While academic commitments are paramount, it is also crucial for students to be aware of the extracurricular activities they can engage in post-school hours.

The Parks & Recreation department has arranged for food trucks and music to create an engaging atmosphere during this informative event.

There will be demonstrations of athletic games, and young attendees can explore options to join various little leagues.

The event’s organizers emphasize the importance of these gatherings, allowing students to acquaint themselves with an array of after-school resources and sports.

Marketing Coordinator Molly Hagan remarks, “There’s a lot of things available to folks in the community, but it’s not sometimes always easy to identify what they are or what those activities are, especially for our kids. It’s important to communicate what’s available, what exists, what opportunities these families have.”

The event is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at Wasena Park. All are encouraged to join.
