Residential fire in Roanoke County under investigation, caused $100,000 in damage

Roanoke County, Virginia – At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, Roanoke County Fire and Rescue teams were dispatched to a residential fire in the 3700 block of Meadowlark Road, located in the Cave Spring region of Roanoke County.

Upon their arrival, responders from Station 3 (Cave Spring) observed smoke in the vicinity and immediately categorized the situation as an active fire.

Initial units from Station 3 who arrived at the scene reported smoke emanating from the eaves at both ends of the single-story, brick residential structure. The property was uninhabited at the time, due to ongoing renovation work.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and there was no displacement of residents. The blaze was efficiently contained and extinguished within a time span of approximately 20 minutes.

According to a report from the Roanoke County Fire Marshals Office, the origin of the fire was traced back to the kitchen area of the house on Meadowlark Road. Investigations into the cause of the fire are still underway. Preliminary estimates indicate the damage caused by the fire to be approximately $100,000.
