Fishburn Park cabin conversion gets green light despite neighborhood opposition
Roanoke, Virginia – The Roanoke City Planning Commission has recently voted in favor of rezoning Fishburn Park, thereby permitting the conversion of an existing cabin into a coffee shop.
As per reports, the project has faced opposition from local residents who are concerned about preserving the integrity of the neighborhood.
One resident expressed frustration with the city’s attempts to sell small parcels of land, which they believe are emblematic of parkland, for residential development.
Conversely, the VanBlaricom family, who grew up in the area, is committed to developing the site in a manner that respects the community’s wishes.
They acknowledge that not everyone may be satisfied with the decision, but they believe that, ultimately, the coffee shop will be a positive addition to the area. They hope to earn the trust of those who are currently unhappy with the project over time.
A public hearing for the city council regarding this matter is scheduled to take place next week.
