Investigation underway following shooting at Roanoke store
Roanoke, Virginia – A man has been taken into custody for the shooting death of a man in southwest Roanoke Sunday evening. The incident occurred at the 7-Eleven store located in the 1400 block of Grandin Road SW.
Isaiah C. Baldwin, a 20-year-old resident of Roanoke, has been charged with Second-Degree Murder. Baldwin was identified as a suspect in the early stages of the investigation, according to police.
Police responded to the scene around 8:50 p.m. on Sunday, where they discovered one man dead inside the store with a gunshot wound. The victim’s identity has not been released.
The arrest came after a joint operation by Roanoke Police and the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, who apprehended Baldwin on Monday.
The incident caused fear among the residents in the area, with local businesses closing early for safety concerns. The owner of RockFish Food & Wine, a neighboring business, expressed her unease, stating that it was unsettling not knowing what was happening in the area.
