Virginia Tech students put efforts to collect and donate things and help the Turkey earthquake victims

BLACKSBURG, Virginia – Students at Virginia Tech are doing what they can to help people in Turkey who are in need.

The Turkish Student Association is holding a fundraiser and collecting money for the people who have been hurt by the earthquakes in the past week.

The group needs new and gently used winter clothes and personal care items.

All of the gifts will be flown to Turkey in the end.

“I think we’re all pretty far from there, right? If we don’t look that way, it doesn’t matter. But any of us could have been in pain there. Irem Sen, president of the Turkish Student Association, said, “There are still people stuck inside the buildings. These people are waiting to hear from their parents or siblings.”

The money will be collected until Feb. 17.

The Graduate Life Center, the Squires Student Center, and the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute are all places where you can drop off items in Blacksburg.
